  • Andrew Miz, DVM

    Andrew Miz, DVM

    Dr. Andrew Miz was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences and Veterinary Medical Sciences. He attended the University of Illinois where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1992. He joined the Animal Medical Center team in February of 1995. Dr. Miz holds special interests in minimally invasive procedures including endoscopy and endosurgery, as well as management of orthopedic disease of companion animals. He is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, serving as the continuing education committee co-chairperson. He is also a member of the Illinois Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. His family includes his wife, son , and Toy Poodle , Bella. In his spare time, Dr Miz enjoys spending time with family, cooking, gardening, mountain biking, Blues music, and is a diehard lifelong Blackhawks fan. His future goals are to continuously improve professionally, personally, and spiritually, and lead the staff of AMC to provide the best veterinary care possible.
  • Danylo Butenko, DVM

    Danylo Butenko, DVM

    Dr. Butenko was born and raised in Syracuse, NY, and now resides in Chicago, IL, with his wife, daughter, and dog Meena.  He is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary medicine and did his clinical training at the University of Illinois.  Dr. Butenko also trained in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) at the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine.  He joined our team in March of 2006.  Dr. Butenko’s special interest include acupuncture, herbal therapy, adult stem cell therapy, and orthopedic surgery.  He believes in integrating TCVM and conventional veterinary medicine to achieve optimal veterinary care.  He is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.  In his spare time, he volunteers in several Ukrainian organizations and coaches boys’ volleyball.  His hobbies include fishing and camping. 

  • Carrie Barzyk, DVM

    Carrie Barzyk, DVM

    Dr. Carrie Barzyk graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois in 1997. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 2001, and has been practicing in the Chicago area ever since.  Her special interests include small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery. She is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, the Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Association of Women Veterinarians, and the American Heartworm Society.  When not at the clinic, Dr. Barzyk enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, as well as her two cats and her dog Charlie (pictured).

    Krysta Stewarts, DVM

    Dr. Krysta Stewarts grew up in Park Ridge, IL. She graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After college, Dr. Stewarts moved to Galway, Ireland before attending the University of Illinois where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, and Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and behavior. Dr. Stewarts lives in Chicago with her American Bulldog, Azlo, and Pit mix, Desta. When not working, she loves all outdoor activities, summer sport leagues, training for the marathon on the lakefront, taking the dogs hiking or to the beach, and practicing yoga.

    Mike Capuz, Technician Staff

    Mike joined our staff as a Veterinary Technician in June of 2001. He assists our veterinarians with surgery, overseeing patient comfort by administering sedation and pain medications before and after procedures as needed. His special interests lie in Orthopedics. He currently resides in Chicago with his wife and 2 Jack Russell Terriers, Bailey & Elsie. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs, watching his favorite soccer team-Manchester United, and riding motorcycles.

    Andrea joined our technician team in October of 2001. She possesses a "knack" for making our patients feel comfortable during their visits to our clinic. In 2001, Andrea graduated with her Associates Degree from Oakton Community College. She currently resides in Chicago with her husband, son and three pugs named Holly, Layla, and Payton.

    Melissa N., Reception Staff

    If your pet has walked in our door, chances are, he or she has been greeted by Melissa's warm and friendly embrace. She manages to fuss over every patient to make their visit to our clinic a positive one. Having two dogs of her own Rocco a Maltipoo and Ellie a Terrier Mix, she knows first hand what it is like when your family pet becomes sick and needs veterinary attention. Melissa serves the key role as Office Manager as well as the Head Receptionist for Animal Medical Center. She has been an invaluable member of our team since March of 1997. In her spare time , she enjoys traveling, swimming, watching movies, and going to concerts.

    Melissa's ability to help clients with their questions and various needs is an asset we greatly admire. She joined our staff in August 2004. Melissa was born and raised in Chicago and has three dogs named Toby a Shihtzu, Monty an Airdale Terrier, and Snocone a Bichon Poodle Mix. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, watching movies, and going to concerts. In the future, she plans to return to school.

    Corrie joined our receptionist team in May of 2005. Having a soft spot in her heart for all animals and a compassionate nature, she manages to make our clients and patients feel right at home when they walk throughour doors. She is a valuable asset to our hospital. She lives in Niles with her husband and two sons. Her pets include 3 cats named Spoogie, Cubby, and Bullie, a Boxer named Mac, and a cockatiel named Kuko. She enjoys gardening and spending time with her family.

    Rich Pallach, Kennel Staff

    Rich joined our team in December of 2007. He currently works here part time (because of his love for animals) and has a full time career as a Radiology Technician for over the past 30 years. He holds an Associate of Applied Science in Radiology. He currently lives in Chicago with his partner and three dogs, "Shemp", "Wiggles", and "Jasper". In his spare time, he enjoys playing with his 3 dogs, listening to music, and playing chess.

    Heather joined our team as a certified veterinary technician in March 2012 after working as both a receptionist and technician assistant at an all-cat clinic in Atlanta. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Georgia State University and in December 2011 graduated from Fox College with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. Heather lives in Chicago with her cats, Catfurr, Dora, and Dagmar. In her spare time she enjoys reading, concert-going, jogging, and riding her bike around town and the lakefront.
